Bravo...Im impressed. She only started violin 6 mths ago and she plays well. Good tempo and very confident in her fingering. Is she reading from scores? U must be very proud of her. :)
U think so? Thks, now I'm really happy, haha - a positive comment from a mommy who has a child learning an instrument too, :). Her teacher did say the same thing abt her tempo, so I guess it's a good thing, :).
Ya, she's reading the scores but if she does her practices on a piece, she should be able to play it by 'memory'. So far, she's able to play all these pieces without looking. Proud ar? Hmmm, still too early to say 'cos who knows, she might not continue with it for very long, as you know kids are prone to that, kekeke. All I remembered are the frustrations when guiding her(both practical and theory) and getting her to practice, especially when there's missed lesson(which had been pretty often, lolz) - it's alot harder to get her to do the same piece for more than 1 wk, hahahahaha. But seeing/hearing her being able to play these pieces(for now) is good enough for me at the moment, :)
One problem though, she's still very 'shy' to play infront of others, so it's not very good for her when it comes to exam time - which the teacher is suggesting the next one but viewing this obstacle, I'm asking her to delay it. She said that I could just let her play the exam pieces soon though.
It's not easy to teach young kids and it takes a lot of patience. Confidence takes time to build.... she's still young and most kids will shy away. Let her view her own performance on videos and praise her for doing well. Regular performance with family audience can help of course with good comments. Don't just say "u play well"...be more specific. Then invite her to perform at the next gathering like a special performance....hopefully that can boost her self confidence over time.
ya, totally agree with you, that's why we(rather me, lolz) took up the teacher's sug to let her play dur my family gathering(s), to build up her confidence in 'public/open' performances 'cos she's on private 1-1 lessons and not subjected to such exposures.
As for the wordy appraisal, ermmm, my family members aren't exactly the very expressive type, but they did 'praise' her when she played well. The last time(3rd time) was the 1st time she played infront of most of them and she seemed to be alittle better already, I hope I'll have the energy to keep her up in this area, hahaha.
haha - well well... now see how far she has come? Good thing for blog entries and videos... my videos of my youngest tend to be silhouettes if it's taken at home! haha.
