Renee's sleeping routine had been constantly disrupted by her over-indulging daddy. When she was younger, she had wanted me to be with her on bedtime, just me staying beside her, she wouldn't let me pat her though(she found it distracting, lolz)... And to get a break at times, I'd requested daddy to 'help out' in this area(though initially I still heard her crying for me inside...) and being the man that he is, he fell asleep with her on our bed! *tsk tsk tsk*. Well, to him it's easier this way, but never did it occur to him that this actually made her even more dependant during bedtime! Then he got busy and would come home late almost every night(and when he's back early, he had to tackle paper work til late) and it was during those times, I had to 'suffer' and re-train her.
Recently, just as she was about to be independant, her dear dear papa have to go and 're-kindle' this habit in her! Geez! There goes my efforts, again, haiz... not mentioning that it's not very good as sometimes he's not willing to go in with her til much later(men, most of them, usually no sense of discipline in these areas) and it gets me mad.
Hoping to put her back on track on bedtime independancy, I reminded her just now during her shower, that her star reward accumulation is not limited to only her violin practices but the stars can also be awarded to her for good behaviour and, for example...sleeping on her own, through the night, :D. BUT, if she misbehaves, throws tanthrums, she'll get 1 star 'checked-off'(no star reward if she asks daddy to sleep beside her, even if the request was made in the middle of the 'night').
On top of that, she'll get to exchange for a new toy with 20stars, but that means she'd have to forego the usual 5stars for a lolly, for the accumulation(inspired by the recent disney princess doll aquisition). Well, we shall see how this goes or rather, leave that 'decision' to her, :D.
So far so good, I've just read her a story and tucked her in and she's only came out once citing her fear of being alone in the room but was soon soothed, we'll see... *crossing fingers* :)
